ABOUT RIVERTREE ACADEMY

Rivertree Academy is a Christian independent school located in the Lake Como Community of Fort Worth, Texas. Rivertree Academy exists to serve Christ by educating his children. We believe that children of Rivertree will go on to be agents for change in their communities, and the best way to achieve that goal is to teach them to Learn, Love, Work, and Lead Well. Our students attend on scholarships, because of our many generous partners and donors who make this education possible!

OUR HISTORY

Rivertree Academy was founded by Dr. Randy Brown, who has been working with children in the Lake Como community since 2006. Founded in 2011 as BURN Ministries (Building, Uniting, Restoring Neighborhoods), we changed our name and mission in 2014 after determining that after-school and summer programs were insufficient to affect true change. Dr. Brown envisioned an education that would equip students to become magnanimous leaders - using all they have and all that they are for the service of others.

The unique Rivertree model is truly a community endeavor and brings together many generous community partners to help fund this excellent education for our students in Como.

Rivertree Academy opened in August 2015 with 46 students in grades PreK 4-year-olds through 2nd grade. Each year, we have added students and grades. We currently have a capacity for 96 students PreK 3-year-olds through 5th grade.

Rivertree Academy’s primary focus is to engage and educate students through project-based learning and interdisciplinary thematic units so students can learn through real-world application. Our education model addresses the three dimensions needed to truly affect change; academically excellent in terms of what children know in their heads, bible-based so that children are inspired in their hearts; and character shaping to influence what children do with their hands.

In addition to our campus on Bonnell (PreK3, PreK4, and Kindergarten), we also partner with Lake Como Church of Christ for our Lower Elementary campus (1st through 3rd grades) and Hope Farm Como for our upper elementary campus (4th and 5th grades).
